GOD’S WORDS FOR TODAY (Lk. 6:12-19) The Holy Gospel according to St. Luke

In these days he went out to the mountain to pray; and all night he continued in prayer to God. And when it was day, he called his disciples, and chose from them twelve, whom he named apostles; Simon, whom he named Peter, and Andrew his brother, and James and John, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon who was called the Zealot, and Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.

And he came down with them and stood on a level place, with a great crowd of his disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases; and those who were troubled with unclean spirits were cured. And all the crowd sought to touch him, for power came forth from him and healed them all.

REFLECTION:

When Jesus embarked on his mission he chose twelve men to be his friends and apostles. In the choice of the twelve, we see a characteristic feature of God's work: Jesus chose very ordinary people. They were non-professionals, who had no wealth or position. They were chosen from the common people who did ordinary things, had no special education, and no social advantages. He chose these men, not for what they were, but for what they would be capable of becoming under his direction and power. What is God's call on your life?

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, increase my faith that I may listen and respond to your call. Amen.

Prayer of St. Gertrude

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.

FROM THE OVCA – OFFICE OF THE INTEGRATED SCHOOL PRINCIPAL:

We will be holding the annual tradition of gathering students to encourage school spirit and support to the members of the varsity teams as they are set out on a new athletic journey for school year 2019-2020 through the PEP Rally. Each year the annual event offers a general theme that involves how important sports is in a student’s life and how it can teach discipline, leadership, team spirit and collaboration. This year’s PEP Rally will be held on September 11, 2019, 1:30 pm at the De La Salle SENTRUM.

The activity will start with a thanksgiving mass at the SENTRUM from 9:00 – 10:00am. The parade of athletes and coaches within the campus will be from 12:30 to 1:15pm. The program proper will start at 1:30pm.

Everyone is strongly encouraged to support and pray for the success of this event.

22 FROM THE HRDO – INSTITUTIONAL HEALTH SERVICES:

EPILEPSY AWARENESS Symptoms

Because epilepsy is caused by abnormal activity in the brain, seizures can affect any process your brain coordinates.

Seizure signs and symptoms may include:

Temporary confusion

A staring spell

Uncontrollable jerking movements of the arms and legs

Loss of consciousness or awareness

Psychic symptoms such as fear, anxiety or deja vu

Symptoms vary depending on the type of seizure. In most cases, a person with epilepsy will tend to have the same type of seizure each time, so the symptoms will be similar from episode to episode.

Doctors generally classify seizures as either focal or generalized, based on how the abnormal brain activity begins.
