The proposed activity on determination and validation of the liquid fuel lignite resource in the country will be undertaken to establish critical issues of R&D and its policies. Investments in research and development, technology transfer and upgrading — the widely accepted measures of innovation, have been historically low for the food manufacturing industry in the Philippines (PIDS, 2017).

FOOD SAFETY PROGRAM

Establishment of a food safety risk profiling center to integrate the application of risk profiling and results of previous R&D studies on Philippine food risk assessment. The implementing agency and the proponent must have an established track record and expertise in food safety.

DOST HALAL S&T PROGRAM

The purpose of the call is to continue developing national capacity to improve local halal industries to strengthen the halal ecosystem in the country. Advantages of the proposed technology and its target cost over existing/commercially available/similar technologies in the market.

DOST SMART FOOD VALUE CHAIN PROGRAM FOR THE NEW NORMAL

PROCESS SECTOR

New public goods and services (or how services are delivered) will be created and improved. Rural development where more micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) will develop and produce competitive and world-class products and services.

MINING AND MINERALS SECTOR

The processing of metallic and non-metallic minerals has been an important part of the economy of many countries rich in natural resources. The impact of mining has been one of the main factors in the continued positive overall contribution of the mining and quarrying industry sector to the national economy over the past 10 years. The mining industry provides most of the materials we rely on to build infrastructure and generate large amounts of energy.

Value-adding of Metallic Minerals (CY: 2023-2025)

In addition, Executive Order 79 mandates the development of value-added activities and downstream industries for strategic metal ores. In support of EO 79 Institutionalization and implementation of reforms in the Philippine mining sector, providing policies and guidelines to ensure environmental protection and responsible mining in the utilization of mineral resources, especially Section 8 Value Adding Activities and the Development of Downstream Industries for the mineral sector, the PCIEERD will call for proposals regarding extraction technologies and processing methods that are environmentally friendly and develop value-adding activities for strategic metal ores. The Metal and Equipment Engineering Sector PCIEERD (Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development) plays an important role in the competitiveness of the Philippine manufacturing industry. The Metals and Equipment Engineering (M&E) industries play a crucial role in the country's economic growth and development. The PCIEERD is also considering grant support for capacity building and institutional technology development proposals focused on Metals and Equipment Engineering sector priorities.

The development of innovative, cost-effective and relevant machinery, parts and engineering products (MPEP) for design and development that will solve the problems and needs of the science and technology of the next industry. Development of innovative, cost-effective and appropriate machinery, parts and engineering products (MPEP) for design and development that will solve the problems and needs of the science and technology of the creative and handicraft industries (forest-based; composite and natural materials). The development of smart materials with coating applications is essential for various industries in the Philippines.

While the use of nanoparticles in the synthesis of anti-corrosion coatings is one of the most important achievements of nanotechnology. The proposals to be submitted should be capable of developing technologies in the following focus areas as identified by industry stakeholders within two (2) years. Nanosafety Program: Establishment of safety protocols for the use of nanomaterial safety (occupational and operational) Phase II

The appropriate safety measures at work can be determined on the basis of evaluation criteria and the recommendations should be adapted to the respective national legislation of the Member State concerned. Occupational safety measures are influenced by the quantity, release potential and exposure level of the nanomaterial in question. The call aims to support the industry's specific R&D needs in the areas of occupational and operational safety when using nanomaterials and the eventual adoption of risk assessment protocols by the industry and the local regulatory authority.
